Changing LSI Logic SAS to Vmware Paravirtual SCSI Controller

If you change the SCSI Controller type from LSI Logic SAS to Vmware Paravirtual on a VM, you might have boot problems because of missing PVSCSCI driver. To avoid such a problem, we should make sure installing the PVSCSI driver first on the VM.

Add a new SCSI controller as Vmware Paravirtual

Add a new disk and select the new scsci controller for the new disk

Check the Device Manager and check if the PVSCSI driver is installed

Now we can shutdown the VM and change the first SCSI Controller From LSI Logic SAS to Vmware Paravirtual safely without having a boot problem.

Finally, you can delete the newly created SCSI Controller (SCSIController1) and the new disk.
